VMware’s vSphere Storage Appliance

Regular readers will be familiar with the series of recent posts John Churchhouse has been writing on virtualization and cloud for small and mid-sized businesses. If you'd like a bit more information, you'll be interested to know that we have a host of whitepapers which can provide more technical detail regarding some of our products and services aimed at SMBs.

One paper we’d like to pick out is the one on vSphere Storage Appliance. It covers the benefits of virtualization and the  challenges SMB’s might be facing when rolling out comprehensive virtualization projects e.g. how to guarantee high availability and provide automation capabilities without spending thousands on shared storage hardware.

The vSphere Storage Appliance (VSA) has been designed particularly for smaller IT organisations, who could be dealing with complex shared storage for the first time. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the product which itself is managed through vCenter Server and supports VMware’s Storage vMotion. The suite of tools offers a storage system that has proven less complexity and lower total costs when compared to traditional, physical storage offerings.

You can read this paper, and more, on our dedicated resource section of the website. If there’s a topic you’d like to discuss, or would like to see more of, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
